Technology has created less free time rather than more

            Recently, a lot of technology has been spreading. We are able to use this technology and it helps us. We have a lot of time, because technology has been developed. People use a lot of technology such as computers and it has created more free time by, reducing the hours spend doing our housework, making our life style, and liberating us from our restrictions.

            Firstly, we can save time because technology has developed. We do not have to take much time for doing housework. For example, if you use a washing machine when you wash your clothes, you can do other things while washing clothes. There is an also automatic vacuum cleaner, called rumba. If you use this machine, you do not have to take time to clean your room. Also, technology has created more leisure in our work. For instance, routine work is being cut, if you use a computer. When you use computer technology such as Microsoft Office, you do not have to write all things by hand. If you use Microsoft Word, you can easily write long passages. My junior high school teacher uses Microsoft Word, and writes news about our class and our school. She had to do a lot of other work, so this technology has been saving her time. Finally, it has become natural to have our own mobiles. It is very useful for doing work. For example, my father sometimes get phone calls from his office when he goes outside. He can work smoothly by using his mobile. Therefore, we can save time by using some technology.

            Secondly, some technology helps our life style. It has changed our transportation. We sometimes use car or bus to go to our destination. If we use them, we can arrive faster than on foot. In my case, I go to city by bus. However, I cannot use the bus on Sunday and public holidays. I have to walk, so I think the bus and car are very useful to have free time. Also, some technology changes people’s way of working. People who work on their laptops need not go to an office or wear suits. For example, some illustrators and writers work in their houses by using their laptops. These days, they can draw pictures on their computers. They can draw or write anything faster than using writing utensils. Therefore, technology has created more time in our life style.

            Thirdly, technology has been helping us liberate from restrictions. People who are taking care of an elderly people or physically challenged people have to take so much time and then, such as having their baths. If care robots spread, people can have some more free time then. Also, you can use some functions when you watch TV programs. You can watch some TV programs in your free time, if you use the recording function or video sites. When I was in Japan, I watched some TV programs, but sometimes I could not watch them. In this situation, I was able to use the recording function and video sites. I was able to watch all programs when I wanted to watch them. If I use some video function, I can control my free time. Therefore, technology liberates people from time restrictions.

            In conclusion, we can save time, change our life style, and being liberated from restrictions when we use technology. I do not think technology has created less free time rather than more.
