The Risk

I love to spend time with my friends especially my friends in my high school are precious. We often used to hang out when we were high school students, and now, we still sometimes meet up and have a nice night.  We love being crazy and doing foolish things.

A few years ago, one day in January, I and four friends went to a large park in Tokyo. The park has a big lake where we can ride boats. One friend said, “Let’s go boating!” Everyone agreed. One boat was for three people, and we had five people. We made two groups by playing scissors-paper-rock. By this game, we were separated into two groups, I and one friend, and the other three boys. Afterwards, we noticed that this game had decided our destiny.

First of all, both of our boats floated quietly, and we were enjoying rowing. Our boat was peaceful and calm. On the other side, the three boys on the other boat started to try to make a fun. Suddenly, one friend on the other boat said, “Let’s pretend like a famous scene in Titanic!” Then, one of them tried to stand on the edge of the boat and spread his arms, and other friends held his body. It was exactly like the Titanic! The next moment, however, the boat started to overturn. The three boys were thrown into the lake. One of them swam to shore, another caught the boat that was floating upside down, and the other swam to our boat and screamed, “Let me hold on!” After that, we all landed and we went back to my friend’s house for them to take a shower and get warm.

That was one of the funniest moments in my life. If I had been on the other boat, or if scissors-paper-rock had had a different result, it would have been the worst experience. Taking risks and being crazy with friends is really fun, but sometimes it can be an awful experience.
